Jesus' Words after the Last Supper: Chapter 5

 

Summarizing the Talks

In my last three Chapters, I have examined in detail, verse by verse, what I consider to be the two talks given by Jesus to His disciples after supper on Maundy Thursday as well as the prayer to His Father which they also heard.

At the end of each text, I have provided a rewording of the King James Version based on my understanding of its meaning resulting from my detailed textual analysis.

I want in this Chapter to provide for each of these three texts three summaries each, each one shorter than the other. To produce these, I have first rewritten each of the three texts in the form of a series of short statements of basically one idea each. These sets of statements follow the same order as the original text. I have transformed Jesus' Last Talk at Table, into a set of fifty-two such statements1, Jesus' Talk on the Walk, much longer, into a set of seventy-one such statements 2 while Jesus' Prayer by the Cedron, into a set of fifty-six3.

I will attempt to make the first summary as close to complete as possible, while eliminating all repetitions. I will provide in the next summary what I consider the most important points in the discourse. The third summary will contain unfortunately only the most crucial points. The first will be the only one where I will use subheadings. I will not comment on any of these summaries, letting them speak for themselves.

What I have done to produce these summaries is to cut the number of statements by half from the first set of statements to the first summary, and again from one summary to the next, which is an arbitrary way of shortening the lists forming each summary.

Each statement will be in a color identifying the summary to which it belongs. The first summary statements are in NAVY, the second summary statements are in BLUE while the third summary statements are in MAROON. This will permit an easy reading of the three texts first summaries one after the other by keeping to the text in NAVY, the three second summaries, by keeping to the text in BLUE and finally the three texts third summaries by keeping to the text in MAROON.

1. Summaries of Jesus' Last Talk at the Table

  1. The First Summary (with Subheadings)

    A) About Jesus:

    1. You must trust Me like you trust God:
    2. My actions are the only way to God Father as they show how He acts.
    3. I tell the truth about God Father as I speak His words and do His deeds.
    4. Knowing Me is knowing God Father as I am in Him and He is in Me.
    5. The miracles I do prove that God Father acts through Me.
    6. I love God Father and so I follow His orders.
    7. God Father is greater than I am.

    B) About the Helper:

    1. God Father will send you a new Helper Who will tell you the Truth.
    2. Only you can understand and breathe Him; this is not possible for the world order.
    3. This Helper on your mission is the August Breath.
    4. He will help you remember and make sense of all I told you.

    C) About the next few days:

    1. So that you trust Me, I am telling you what will happen soon.
    2. It will make clear Who I and God Father are.
    3. I am going to die: this way I will go to My Father's house and prepare you a place so we can all be together again.
    4. I will show that the ways of this world order are opposed to God Father's.
    5. You will know that God is Father when you see Me alive though dead.
    6. That will change your lives and
    7. you will know that we are all one: you, God Father and I.

    D) About your mission:

    1. Following My orders, which are God Father's, is to love Me;
    2. and those who love Me are loved both by God Father and I.
    3. You must live and follow My new order to love each other like I love you.
    4. Mutual love is to be My disciples' trademark.
    5. Anything needed to perform these tasks will be given you on the asking.
    6. This way God Father will be known through Me.
    7. I give you real peace, not the one available through this world order.

  2. A Shorter Summary

    1. My love for God Father is lived by following His orders.
    2. I show clearly by My actions how God Father wants humans to act.
    3. I speak for and embody completely God Father as My miracles prove.
    4. God Father's Breath of Serenity will help you understand the realities I told you about, realities foreign to this world order.
    5. I give you real peace, something this world order cannot do.
    6. Anything needed to perform the tasks I give you will be given you on the asking.
    7. My passion and death will show definitely that the ways of this world order are against God Father's.
    8. You will know that God is Father when you see Me alive though dead.
    9. Your love for Me is lived by following My orders, which are God Father's.
    10. As you love each other, God Father and I love you and so we will all be one.

  3. A Too Short Summary

    1. Be like Me, act like Me and so love each other.
    2. You will know that I really told you the truth about God Father
    3. when you see Me alive though dead
    4. and when He sends you a new Source of strength and understanding.

2. Summaries of Jesus' Talk on the Walk

  1. The First Summary (with Subheadings)

    A) Jesus as a Vine:

    1. I am a vine, you are My branches and God Father is its farmer.
    2. My message is the sap that makes humans into healthy branches.
    3. God Father prunes My branches which bear fruit so they bear more.
    4. Only as one of My branches can humans be truly alive.

    B) My order to you:

    1. Following My orders keeps you in My love
    2. just like Me following God Father's orders keeps Me in His.
    3. My order is to love each other just like I do.
    4. Giving one's breath for one friend is the greatest act of love.
    5. You are My friends as I told you all what God Father wants.
    6. I chose you so that you bear fruitful witness to Me.
    7. God Father will give you anything you ask so as to follow My orders.

    C) About the world order:

    1. The world order detests us because we do not follow its rules.
    2. You will be persecuted as My officers by those ignorant of God Father.
    3. If I had not given them God Father's message, their error would not be a fault.
    4. To detest Me is to detest God Father as My miracles prove that I obey God.

    D) About witnessing:

    1. The Helper that emanates from God Father will tell the truth about Me.
    2. The helper will be My witness as He will tell you about Me and God Father.
    3. You will be My witnesses as you have known Me from the start.
    4. God Father loves you because you love Me and believe I represent Him.
    5. I came from God Father, was born and now will die and go back to Him.
    6. This Helper Breath of Truth will help you affirm
    7. a) that this world order makes a serious mistake by refusing My message,
    8. b) that this world order's justice is all wrong as it condemns Me to death, and
    9. c) that there is a definite alternative to this world order.
    10. I am telling you now so that you may be ready to to take charge after My death.

    E) The Apostles' future

    1. You are sad because I am going to die
    2. but the Helper will help you take charge.
    3. You will soon all desert Me.
    4. You will weep at My death
    5. but when you see Me alive though dead
    6. you will rejoice forever,
    7. you will understand that God is Father and
    8. so find peace in Me.
    9. You must be resolute while facing this world order's oppression as
    10. our victory against this world order is sure.


  2. A Shorter Summary

    1. I am a vine, you are My branches and God Father is its farmer:
    2. My message is the sap that gives life to My branches which God Father prunes.
    3. My command is to love each other just like I do, up to giving up your life.
    4. I love those who follow My command just like God Father's does.
    5. God Father will give you what you ask so as to be able to follow My command.
    6. The world order detests us as we do not follow its rules.
    7. You are My witnesses as you have known Me from the start
    8. and, as My witnesses, will be persecuted by those ignorant of God Father.
    9. To detest Me is to detest God Father as My miracles prove that I obey God.
    10. The Helper Who emanates from God Father is also My witness.
    11. I came from God Father, was born and now die to go back to Him.
    12. This Helper Breath of Truth will help you take charge, state that:
    13. a) this world order makes a serious mistake by refusing My message,
    14. b) its justice is all wrong as it condemns Me to death,
    15. c) there is a definite alternative to this world order.
    16. After weeping at My death, you will rejoice at seeing Me alive gain:
    17. then you will understand that God is Father and find peace in Me.
    18. We will win against this world order: so be resolute!


  3. A Too Short Summary

    1. My message is the sap that gives you life as My branches pruned by God Father.
    2. My order is to love each other just like I do, by giving up your life for others.
    3. God Father will give you what you ask to follow My order.
    4. The world order detests us as we follow an alternative to its rules.
    5. Those ignorant of God Father will persecute you as witnesses to My life.
    6. To detest Me is to detest God Father as My miracles prove that I obey God.
    7. The Helper Breath of Truth will help you state that this world order is in the wrong.
    8. You will know God as Father once you see Me alive after death, finding peace in Me.

3. Summaries of Jesus' Prayer by the Cedron

  1. The First Summary (with Subheadings)

    A) Jesus' mission:

    1. God Father, make Me known now so that I can make You known;
    2. Make it such that I can show that You, God Father, are the only real God
    3. and that I am Your Messenger and Anointed.
    4. I have made You, God Father, known to those You gave Me as disciples,
    5. They know that I came from You and that You sent Me.
    6. Nearly all kept to their mission with Me at their helm.

    B) Jesus' disciples' mission:

    1. I am petitioning You only for them as they are the only ones who are Yours.
    2. I am known through them.
    3. Keep them faithful to the mission You gave them.
    4. Make those You gave Me such that they be one like We are.
    5. They will rejoice in My being alive though dead.
    6. Their acceptance of Your message separates them from this world order,
    7. and so this world order detests them and Me.
    8. I ask you to allow them to preach Your message without being harmed.
    9. Dedicate them to be Your truthful messengers against this world order.
    10. I sent them and their successors to continue My mission.
    11. May they all be dedicated to the Truth like Me.
    12. May they all be united together to us like We are.
    13. May this unity between them show this world order that You sent Me.
    14. May their perfect unity show the world order that You love them as You love Me.

    C) Jesus' last wishes:

    1. I want them to come and join Me through death
    2. that they may know Me fully as You know Me fully
    3. as You have loved Me from eternity.
    4. O God Who is truly Father,
    5. this word order does not understand You but I and these You gave Me do.
    6. I told them all about You,
    7. so that they know how great is Your love for Me and for them.


  2. A Shorter Summary

    1. Truly Loving God Father, make Me show that You are the only real God
    2. and that I have come from You as Your Messenger and Anointed.
    3. I have made You and I known to those you gave Me as disciples.
    4. I taught them successfully so that they can witness to Us.
    5. Keep them faithful to their mission by making them one as We are.

    7. Their acceptance of Your message separates them from this world order,
    8. which does not understand You and so detests them just like Me.
    9. Dedicate them to be Your truthful messengers against this world order.
    10. I sent them and their successors to continue My mission of telling the Truth.
    11. May their unity show this world order that You sent Me and love them.
    12. I want them to come to Us after death that they may fully know Us and Our Love.


  3. A Too Short Summary

    1. Truly Loving Father, make Me show that You are the only real God
    2. and that I came from You as Your Messenger and Anointed.
    3. I taught My disciples so that they can witness to Us.
    4. Keep them faithful to their mission by making them one as We are.
    5. Their acceptance of Your message makes them hated by this world order,
    6. which does not understand You and so detests both them and Me.


What I intend to do in my next Chapter is to review some of the points that were mentionned, especially the ones which come up again and again.

1 Jesus' Last Talk at Table in the format of a list of statements:

  1. What will happen next will make Me known for Who I am;
  2. this way God will also be known for Who He is.
  3. God will make Me known for Who I am if I make Him known for Who He is.
  4. I am going to die very soon
  5. but you must stay alive.
  6. I give you a new order: to love each other like I love you.
  7. Your mutual love must be what makes you known as My disciples.
  8. You must not die now but only later.
  9. You must not get worried,
  10. as you must trust Me like you trust God.
  11. I am going to prepare you each a place in God Father's house,
  12. then I will come and take you there.
  13. You now know where I am going and how: by dying.
  14. I am the way to God Father,
  15. I tell the truth about God Father,
  16. I tell you how to live and why.
  17. My actions are the only way to God Father.
  18. Knowing Me is knowing God Father,
  19. seeing how I act tells you how God Father acts.
  20. I am in God Father and He is in Me.
  21. I speak God Father's words and do His deeds.
  22. The miracles I do prove that God Father acts through Me.
  23. The one who trusts Me will do more than I did because of My death.
  24. I will grant you anything you ask so as to perform the tasks I give you.
  25. This way God Father will be known through Me.
  26. I will grant you anything you ask so as to perform the tasks I give you.
  27. If you love Me, follow My orders.
  28. I will ask God Father to give you a new Helper;
  29. this Helper will be always with you.
  30. He is the Breath of Truth.
  31. This Breath of Truth cannot be understood by this world order
  32. but you can understand Him, as you will internalize Him, breathe Him.
  33. You will know that God is Father when you see Me alive though dead.
  34. Your life will be changed when you see Me alive though dead.
  35. Then you will know that we are all together: you, God Father and I.
  36. To love Me means following my orders;
  37. those who love Me are loved both by God Father and I.
  38. I will make Myself present to those who love Me.
  39. Following my orders means to love Me;
  40. and those who love Me are loved both by God Father and I.
  41. Those who do not love Me do not follow My orders, which are God Father's.
  42. All this I am telling you while still alive.
  43. This Helper on your mission, sent by God Father for you, is the August Breath.
  44. This August Breath will help you remember and make sense of all I told you.
  45. I give you real peace, not the one available through this world order.
  46. Do not be worried: I will die but be alive though dead.
  47. Going to God Father by dying is something to be joyful about.
  48. God Father is greater than I am.
  49. I have foretold you what is coming so that you trust in Me when it takes place.
  50. I am going to die soon: the way I die will show that the ways of this world order are opposite to God Father's.
  51. I love God Father and so follow His orders.
  52. Let us go now.

2 Jesus' Talk on the Walk in the format of a list of statements:
  1. I am a vine and God Father is its farmer:
  2. He gets rid of My branches withered and fruitless
  3. and prunes those which bear fruit so they bear more.
  4. My message is like sap that makes you healthy branches.
  5. It is only by remaining one of My branches that you can bear fruit:
  6. otherwise, you wither and die.
  7. It is only by remaining one of My branches that you can bear much fruit:
  8. otherwise, you wither and die.
  9. It is only by remaining one of My branches that you can bear fruit:
  10. otherwise, you wither and die and are thrown away.
  11. If you remain in Me and follow My orders, you will receive all you ask.
  12. God Father is well thought of when you bear fruit and are My disciples.
  13. I love you just like God Father loves Me.
  14. Following My orders keeps you in My love
  15. just like Me following God Father's orders keeps Me in His.
  16. I tell you this to give you great joy, My joy.
  17. My order is to love each other just like I do.
  18. Giving one's breath for one friend is the greatest act of love.
  19. Being My friends means following My orders.
  20. You are not My servants but My friends as I told you what God Father wants.
  21. I chose you so that you bear fruitful witness to Me.
  22. God Father will give you anything you ask so as to follow My orders.
  23. My orders are that you love each other.
  24. The world order will detest you as it does Me
  25. because you do not follow its rules at all.
  26. This world order will persecute you just like it does Me, your Master.
  27. The people who welcomed My words will welcome yours.
  28. You will be persecuted as My officers by those ignorant of God Father.
  29. If I had not given them God Father's message, their error would not be a fault.
  30. The one who detests Me detests God Father
  31. As the miracles I did prove that I obey God Father and
  32. So they detested Me without any valid reason.
  33. The Helper that emanates from God Father will tell the truth about Me.
  34. He will be My witness
  35. And you also will be My witnesses as you have known Me from the start.
  36. I am telling you now so that you be ready to face these facts,
  37. that you will be excommunicated and murdered
  38. by people who think they are following God's orders
  39. as they do not know either God Father or Me.
  40. When this happen, you will remember I predicted these things;
  41. I tell you this now because you have to take charge as I am going to die.
  42. You are sad because I am going to die;
  43. but this is good for you as only then can the Helper assist you to take charge.
  44. This Helper will assist you to state that:
  45. this world order makes a serious mistake by refusing My message,
  46. this world order's justice is all wrong as it will condemn Me to death,
  47. there is a definite alternative to this world order.
  48. These are the things you can manage now;
  49. the Breath of truth will tell you what I told Him about the future.
  50. He will make Me known and tell you about Me and God Father.
  51. All I have belongs also to God Father and vice-versa.
  52. I will die soon but you will then see Me alive though dead.
  53. You will weep at My death
  54. and rejoice at seeing Me alive though dead
  55. just like a woman with child, while in great pain just before giving birth,
  56. forgets her agony and rejoices as soon as her child is born alive.
  57. I will die soon: you will weep but then you will see Me alive though dead
  58. Your joy at My being alive again will be everlasting.
  59. Then you will understand it all.
  60. Whatever you ask so as to fulfill My orders you will get and so rejoice.
  61. This I say to you straightforwardly.
  62. You are going to know clearly Who God Father is.
  63. You will receive anything you ask so to do your duty to Me.
  64. God Father loves you because you love Me and believe I represent Him.
  65. I came from God Father, was born and now will die and go back to Him.
  66. As you trust Me,
  67. I can tell you that soon you will all desert Me
  68. but God Father is always with Me.
  69. I have told you all this so that you can find peace in Me.
  70. You must be resolute while facing this world order's oppression as
  71. the victory against this world order will be ours.

3Jesus' Prayer by the Cedron in the format of a list of statements:
  1. God Father, now is the time for You to make Me known
  2. so that I make You known;
  3. You make it such that I can give «life eternal» to all You want Me to.
  4. «Life eternal» is understanding that You, God Father, are the only real God
  5. and that I am Your Messenger and Anointed.
  6. I have completed the work of making You, God Father, truly known;
  7. make clear Who I am and have been for ever.
  8. I have made You, God Father, known to those you gave Me as disciples,
  9. whom You took away from this world order
  10. and who have kept Your words and
  11. know that all I have comes from You.
  12. They have accepted the words You ordered Me to tell them.
  13. They have realized that I came from You and that You sent Me.
  14. I pray only for them as they are the only ones who are Yours;
  15. As My disciples, they are Yours; and as Yours, they are Mine.
  16. I am known through them.
  17. I will not be alive much longer but they will be. I will come to You, My Father.
  18. Keep them faithful in the mission You gave them,
  19. make those You gave Me such that they be one like We are.
  20. I kept them on the mission You gave Me while I was alive with them:
  21. all kept to their mission
  22. but the one whom was allowed in My group
  23. though he was of this world order, so that I would be betrayed.
  24. I am going to die and come to You:
  25. after they will rejoice in My being alive though dead.
  26. I have given them Your message:
  27. their acceptance of it separates them from this world order,
  28. just like I am separate from it,
  29. And so this world order detests them.
  30. I ask you to allow them to preach Your message without being harmed.
  31. They are like Me opposed to this world order.
  32. Dedicate them to be Your truthful messengers.
  33. Just like You gave Me a mission,
  34. I sent them to continue that same mission.
  35. Just like I was dedicated to the truth,
  36. they are dedicated to the truth.
  37. I ask this not only for these
  38. but also for all those who will follow in this mission
  39. by trusting in Me because of their preaching.
  40. As You, God Father, is united with Me,
  41. may they all be united together to us.
  42. May this unity between them show this world order that You sent Me.
  43. May the share in My reputation by their unity, similar to Ours.
  44. Let Me be in them like You are in Me,
  45. that they may live a perfect unity
  46. and so show the world order that You sent Me
  47. and love them as You love Me.
  48. I want them to come and join Me through death
  49. that they may know Me fully as You know Me fully
  50. as You have loved Me from eternity.
  51. O God Who are truly Father,
  52. this word order does not understand You but I do.
  53. These that You sent Me understand.
  54. I told them all about You,
  55. so that they know how great is Your love for Me,
  56. as well as Your love for them.
